China · Jiajiang Cultural and Creative
Series Product Design
This project is rooted in the regional and industrial context of Jiajiang, Sichuan, exploring how local cultural identity and industrial spirit can be translated into contemporary cultural and creative product design. Drawing on the symbolic imagery of the “deep sea,” “strength,” and “exploration,” the project adopts liquorware as a cultural carrier, integrating form, material, and visual language to construct a product system that balances technological sensibility with cultural depth.
The product form is inspired by deep-sea exploration equipment and submersible structures, emphasising verticality, stability, and a sense of contained power. Through the combination of transparent and semi-transparent materials, the design evokes the visual experience of a sealed deep-sea capsule, allowing the product to communicate themes of exploration and the unknown in both display and use. Functional components—including the glass stopper, liquid chamber, and outer shell—are clearly articulated, reinforcing an industrial aesthetic while maintaining practical usability.
Visually, the project integrates expressive Eastern calligraphic gestures with a restrained industrial design language. The packaging centres on the concept of the “Core of the Deep Sea,” rendered through bold brushwork that conveys energy, compression, and internal force. A palette dominated by deep blue and cool grey references both the oceanic theme and Jiajiang’s industrial character, while subtle red accents enhance visual focus and memorability. Material choices emphasise glass and metallic finishes, reinforcing a design attitude that is rational, controlled, and powerful.
Through this project, the design explores a pathway for merging regional culture, industrial heritage, and contemporary product design. Rather than relying on surface-level symbolism, the work positions the cultural product as a functional object capable of expressing local identity and modern industrial spirit, offering new possibilities for the contemporary transformation and branding of regional culture.
